Simple Sereniel (v2)

説明
An updated Sereniel deck that tries to optimize everything
ノート
Disclaimer
As for most of the decks I try to craft, the main goal is to have a comfy and fun deck that can reliably execute its planned combo while having decent sustain. It is by no means optimized to deal the most damage / one shot bosses.
Most equipments and refinements are suggestions. Some explanations and alternatives can be found in the "Details" section of this guide.

Introduction
With the release of Season 5 and the unobtrusive Memory cards, I've been wanting to update my decks, so here is the first relevant one with a slightly different take on Sereniel.
Compared to most other decks, this one uses the X-cost variant of Shining Core to avoid hand size issues and create a perfect combo that leaves no extra lasers in the deck at the end of a turn. Sereniel can also abuse her cards that can trigger twice to make use of the Fortitude decrease divine epiphany (although that is more of a min-maxing option). Finally, thanks to her (honestly absurd) AP generation potential, Sereniel can make use of The Final Command to further boost her and Selena's damage.
Selena keeps her Season 3 deck to maximize the Extra Damage boosts (as well as get 12 Mark from the Persona card), but she can be built in Season 5 if farming engraving becomes too tedious.
Cassius keeps a very standard deck with a Memory card from Season 5 for some easy buffs.
Deck guide
Setup / first turn
Thanks to the Memory cards from Season 5 (which proc on their own), the setup for this deck is quite short with only two Upgrade and two Exhaust cards.
Sniper's Domain -> Always in starting hand (unless Selena is still E0)
Pop Eyed Popper -> Best if you can get it in the staring hand, use Joker if needed to play it as soon as possible. Pick the "Full House" Quest which is the easiest to activate while providing draw.
Negotiate -> Play it whenever you draw it (make sure you have enough hand space for the draw).
First Aid Kit -> Will proc on its own when playing Cobalt Light (you can use it manually if you really need the hand space).
After that, simply follow the normal turn guide!
Combo / normal turn
Every turn, you will get Sereniel's 3 Homing Lasers in hand in addition to the usual 5 draw (8 cards total).
Start with playing the Homing Laser with the draw divine epiphany (you want to prioritize this to maximize the draw you can get from it rather than drawing Sereniel's cards with regular draw). You can play the AP lasers whenever, though it is best to wait until Selena's Extra Attacks can be activated.
Whenever you draw High-Power Scope or Drone Bombing, play them as soon as possible to enable Selena's Extra Attacks.
Joker can be used to get Selena's skill cards faster or to target a draw card if you need it while Attack! will usually be used to get a Devil Dice or one of Sereniel's cards depending on what you need.
Use Target Spotted to complete Cassius' Quest whenever needed. If you have already generated 3 Quest cards you can play it anytime to clear some hand space.
Use Plasma Missile while making sure the first proc doesn't Ravage the enemy to get both procs (best used right after Tactical Maneuver when the Tenacity bar is full). Similarly, try to use Cobalt Light to Ravage to get the two procs as well.
As usual, use Tactical Maneuver to replenish the enemy Tenacity after a Ravage to cycle your lasers multiple times. Make sure to keep one for the end of the combo.
The final part of the combo requires three cards in hand:
- Shining Core
- Tactical Maneuver
- Pale Shooting Star
For the maximum amount of damage, you will need 7AP (should be easily obtained with the lasers and Ravage procs).
Play Shining Core to get 8 lasers (you will never get more because of hand space). Play some lasers while keeping exactly enough to Ravage an enemy with full Tenacity. Play Tactical Maneuver to refill the Tenacity one last time and play your remaining lasers to Ravage one last time.
At this point, you should have your three base lasers plus six Exhaust lasers in hand in addition to Pale Shooting Star while two lasers are still in the deck. Use the 6 Exhaust lasers and one base laser (all three if your Sereniel is E1) and finally play Pale Shooting Star to exhaust the remaining lasers from the deck before emptying the rest of your hand.

Sereniel
セレニエルEquipment & refinements
Celestial Bulwark is recommended to farm Sereniel's equipments.
Weapon
There is no required weapon for this build to work.
Needle of the Severed Overseer is a very good pick as it should always be active. If you have luck on your side, an Elite might also drop Dagger That Tricked the Shadow. Otherwise, a simple RFS-17 will work perfectly fine.
Armor
There is no required armor for this build to work.
If lucky, an Elite might drop Fairy King's Crown. If not pick whatever you want (I usually go with Titan Combat Suit for better survivability).
Accessory
Sereniel can make full use of The Final Command to boost the whole team. If you do not want to farm this equipment, prefer running Swamp of Judgement for alternatives.
Cards & epiphanies
One of the AP lasers can be switched to the extra hit on Ravage version for a bit more damage. The draw laser on the other hand can use the "Draw two at turn start" divine epiphany for more consistant draw (although it will not work on the first turn because of the Opener cards).
Plasma Missile allows us to double dip into both the draw and the Fortitude decrease.
Probably one of the biggest difference with other Sereniel decks. We use this version for two main reasons:
- Hand space -> The upgrade version will almost always create too many lasers which will either prevent the base lasers from moving back to hand or waste some of them.
- Clean deck -> A lot of Sereniel decks do not take the leftover lasers into account in their deck cycling, which can eventually create bricked hands (or at least make it harder to consistantly draw all cards).
Similarly to Plasma Missile, Cobalt Light can also activate twice to get even more Fortitude down on the enemy. The base version of this card can also get a "Draw 2" common epiphany, if hand cycling is a problem (it should be rare for the hand to get bricked but it is still possible).
Used at the very end of the combo to clean up any remaining Exhaust lasers and keep the deck clean. Thanks to the two AP lasers that come back to hand with the final Ravage, we always have enough AP for this card.
Sereniel will easily activate the effect of this Memory card thanks to her Afterglow effect. We prefer the ally boost over the personal boost as Selena will deal as much, if not more, damage than Sereniel.
Basically a free card (not counting the action count) that will help maximize the benefits from Sereniel's draw laser. Can be changed to Negotiate for more Morale.
Memory fragments
- [Judgement's Flames] 4 piece -> Will work for at least half of Sereniel's damage
- [Instinctual Growth] 4 piece -> Smaller boost but will be active for almost all attacks
- [Executioner's Tool] 2 piece -> Generic Critical Damage boost
- [Black Wing] 2 piece -> Generic Attack boost
- [Cursed Corpse] 2 piece -> Alternative if there is a source of Agony in the team
Partners
ペコPeko is Sereniel's signature Partner and the best option for personal damage, granting her a +25% Critical Chance after ravaging an enemy at least once each turn.
ユリYuri is a good F2P alternative, especially if you have trouble managing your draw, thanks to her EGO skill.
セリティアSerithea is a decent generic partner if you happen to pick her up from the battle pass.
Selena
セレーナEquipment & refinements
While Theater of Illusions is the easiest Chaos to get good engravings, Swamp of Judgement is the best option for personal damage.
Weapon
There is no required weapon for this build to work.
Criticism of Discord (Senectus drop) is ideal to maximize Selena's damage. However, since Swamp of Judgement also has Verdant Shackles, Second Method or Dagger That Tricked the Shadows can also be used.
Armor
There is no required armor for this build to work.
If running Swamp of Judgement, Fairy King's Crown is the best option, while Shield of the Watcher can be used if running Theater of Illusions.
Accessory
There is no required accessory for this build to work.
Verdant Shackles or Verdant Night are the best options here, while a simple Amorphous Cube can be used as a last option.
Refinements
- When 5 or more cards have been created through abilities by allies, +30% Damage Amount to Extra Attacks of this unit (1 time per turn) -> Priority target. If possible try to get multiple instances of this engraving (at least 2 is ideal).
- When Action Count of enemies is increased by allies, +50% Damage Amount to ally Attack Cards for 1 turn (1 time per turn) -> Okay-ish alternative.
Cards & epiphanies
The draw divines are prioritized on High-Power Scope and Drone Bombing rather than on Tactical Maneuver since we want to play them as soon as possible (whereas Tactical Maneuver needs the enemy to be Ravaged first).
Enables the [Starlight and Dreams] set while also giving more options to complete Cassius' Quests. Can be removed if you don't find it useful enough.
This card can be removed but gives some easy damage buff which pairs very well with the Persona card.
Basically a simple Mark factory, building 12 Mark stacks with a single card. Can be removed for an extra draw divine epiphany if you really struggle with the deck cycling.
More Morale and some draw for the setup turn. Depending on your preferences, can be switched to a Quick Shelling or simply removed for an extra draw divine epiphany.
Memory fragments
- [Executioner's Tool] 2 piece -> Generic Critical Damage boost
- [Black Wing] 2 piece -> Generic Attack boost
- [Cursed Corpse] 2 piece -> Alternative if there is a source of Agony in the team
Partners
マリンMarin is probably the best option, with a good passive and draw in her EGO skill.
ロザリアRosaria is the F2P alternative and is more than enough for all contents.
Cassius
カシウスEquipment & refinements
Cassius' equipment can be obtained from any Chaos you want with a Season 5 modifier, with Celestial Bulwark currently being the easiest to farm.
Weapon
There is no required weapon for this build to work.
Tentacles of a Ruined Age (Senectus drop) is the best weapon to support the team damage. Since Cassius' damage isn't too important, pretty much any weapon can do.
Armor
There is no required armor for this build to work.
Whatever armor piece that helps survivability can be used.
Accessory
There is no required accessory for this build to work.
Split Design Core can help boost the team damage even more, but any accessory can be used.
Cards & epiphanies
For people who don't mind restarting fights several times, the Initiation version can be better.
Devil Dice is used as a free Morale generator. While it is also possible to use the Fortitude decrease divine epiphany, AP management would become a bit harder.
Simply used for the extra Morale, this card can also help improve a bad hand during the setup turn.
More Morale and Fortitude decrease stacking. For a slightly smaller deck, the upgrade version can be used (which can also provide extra draw and Morale if lucky).
For a fully generic Cassius, the "Increase Tenacity Damage" divine epiphany can also be used to self-activate the Memory card.
Used as a literal joker to help getting out of a bad hand. Can be removed if you don't like it.
The standard team boost version which Sereniel will easily activate.
More of a personal favorite than a best choice. Can be replaced with an extra First Aid Kit for more Morale.
A simple Morale generator that will be activated by Sereniel's Cobalt Light.
Memory fragments
- [Glory's Reign] 4 piece -> Only works if using the "Straight" or "Full House" Quests since "Triple 0" generates attack cards instead of skill cards
- [Executioner's Tool] 2 piece -> Generic Critical Damage boost
- [Black Wing] 2 piece -> Generic Attack boost
- [Tetra's Authority] 2 piece -> Generic Defense boost
- [Cursed Corpse] 2 piece -> Alternative if there is a source of Agony in the team
Partners
ニックスNyx is the best option for almost all Controller combattants (appart from their signature partner) with a team-wide buff in her passive and hand cycling in her EGO skill.
ユリSadly, most of the other Controller partners don't bring much to the team. As such, Yuri is actually a decent option if only for the draw from her EGO skill.
Showcase & thoughts
Full Scale Offensive:
Quickly tested on Beginning of Desire and easily got a score of 900k on the second turn (while still lacking some of the correct divine epiphanies).
Spiral Tower of Screams:
The first version of this deck was already more than powerful enough, this one also clears just as easily while also having a better management of Exhaust lasers.
Personal deck score (1=bad, 5=good)
Deck obtention: 4 -> The Fortitude decreqse divine epiphanies are rare, however this deck can already perform very well without them.
Ease of use: 4 -> The only "difficulty" is knowing how to properly clear Cassius' Quests to get the extra draw, and to understand how the end of the combo works.
Power: 5 -> I'm sure there are more powerful decks out there, but this one is already overpowered for whatever content we currently have.
Sustain: 4 -> Cassius E6 is preferred to get some Fortitude and decrease incoming damage. Outside of huge hits from enemies that act very fast, this team should have no trouble surviving.
Total: 17/20
